Budgie McGhie has told of the growing injury list ahead of Saturday's Scottish Cup tie with Carnoustie
Several injuries were picked up between a training game on Saturday and Monday's defeat to Rutherglen which saw 3 Clydebank BC players stepping into the fray.No fewer than eight first team players are carrying knocks, with dead-ball specialist Gary Lynn the latest to head for the treatment table.
He and Davie Fisher limped off during a Saturday training session which filled the gap of the postponed Panmure tie.
They join: John Jack (hamstring), Alan Jack (calf), Gavin Rushford (ankle), Paul Allum (back), John Cunningham (ankle) and Charlie Hobbs (knee) on the doubtful list, while Kevin Proctor remains a long-term absentee.
Budgie was upset to see Saturday's tie postponed with most of thepark playable.
McGhie told this weeks Clydebank Post "We have lots and lots of injuries just now. I thought it would be good to keep people ticking over with a bounce game against Rutherglen Glencairn on Monday.
"But instead I had to consider drafting in some trialists to make up the numbers.
"I am left with the situation where I only have eleven fully fit players. It's not ideal, but we will just need to get by.
"Come Saturday we may need to take a chance with a few of them, but do that and we run the risk of them breaking down.
"It is unfortunate, but just about every manager goes through something like this and it just means some of the other guys coming in have a chance to stake their claim."
In the only Stagecoach First Division league game to get the go-ahead, fellow promotion chasers Kilbirnie Ladeside picked up three points with a slender 1-0 win against Kilwinning Rangers.
A late strike was enough for Kilbirnie to nick the win at the ground Bankies stuttered to a 2-2 draw in their last league outing, a fact not lost on the gaffer.
He added: "We have been guilty of letting points slip while the teams above us have been grinding out the wins.
"From the teams we've played, there is no-one that much better than us.
"If we don't go up it won't be down to the fact we don't have the players, it will be down to carelessness and not finishing teams off."
Clydebank v Carnoustie Panmure, Holm Park, kick-off 2.15pm.
