Budgie McGhie looks back on Saturday's nervy 5th round replay at Carnoustie where Bankies scraped through on penalties

Bankies progressed on spot kicks after two draws against former winners Carnoustie. Bankies struggled at times against the North East side who finished both games with 9 men.

After watching Charlie Hobbs win the tie, Budgie admitted "We didn't play well and at times made it hard for ourselves."

The gaffer went on "We made a few changes and it might have affected how we played. My sympathies go to Carnoustie. They are a good young side who played well but in the cup it's all about results."

Charlie Hobbs came in for praise after winning the penalty to level the game then score the winning kick "I am especially pleased for Hobbs who missed a sitter during the game. He apologised to the players before the shoot-out and it was ironic his penalty won the tie." said McGhie

Looking towards the quarter final Budgie admitted "But we now have a very difficult game away to Petershill."

That tie is on March 14th, 2.30pm but before that Bankies take on Vale of Leven at Millburn in the Central League Cup.
