Bankies crashed out of the Sectional League Cup with a poor performance at Saracen Park on Tuesday night leaving Ashfield to qualify with a 100% record

The squad was again rotated for this winner takes all clash in Possil.

Neiterh side impressed throughout and the game was decided by three goalkeeping errors which summed the evening up.

The home side took the lead in the first half. A cross from the right appeared to fall into goalkeeper land but Tiropolous didn't come and then allowed the week shot to beat him. The marking was also suspect with two 'Field players waiting to have an effort.

The game had been a little rough yet surprisingly the referee seemed content to keep his cards in his pocket until near halftime.

Bankies levelled three minutes into the second half. Gary Lynn fired in a 30 yard free kick right down the throat of ex- Bankie Chris Prior who spilled it into the path of Charlie Hobbs and ROSS CAMPBELL with the young defender grabbing his first Bankies goal.

Still the refereeree was content to let rough challenges go yet pull up some ridiculous things that only he could have seen.

Play descended into a long ball battle with keepers often in possesion given the short narrow park that Ashfield play on.

It was to be a long ball that won the game with 14 minutes to play. A hoof down the middle dropped into the box but with Tiropolous hesitating a home striker managed to et a nick on the ball over him. Campbell's efforts to clear did seem to be impeded by an offside looking attacker but the goal was given as the ball trundled into the net.

Bankies had more possesion and had went with three up front but failed to test the keeper again.

Bankies now have to pick themselves up for Saturday's League opener at Dalry(2pm)
